The TEI of CRETE (www.teicrete.gr) has greatly benefitted from the EU IPs as part of its strategic development to further expand and internationalize its centres of excellence. Indeed we consider the EU IPs to be tools of multi-disciplinary excellence. In East Crete with Cross Cultural Management, in Central Crete with IT, and in West Crete with Electronics & Physics, IPs have now taken place in all 4 counties of Crete where there are TEI Departments. This has lead to high profile and fast track collaborations based on mutual respect in teaching and research. The IPs have been a golden opportunity for colleagues in European HEIs to get to know us both academically and socially. Crete was the home of Europe and we do not forget that Europe is still our home. The TEI of Crete has also not forgotten our international role connecting continents. We are committed to education and research at a national, European, and international level and to fostering internationalization in our common European home. The Erasmus programme has been a major contributor to our International development, especially the IPs, in our wish to offer an international dimension to all our students and staff through our teaching and research. We consider our IPs to be both a vote of confidence from our EU colleagues and partner institutions and a way of establishing the classic Erasmus programme even more firmly as a ‘sine qua non’ for both students and staff at the TEI of Crete. We have seen a European confidence in both our students and staff, both home and visiting, and this gives us immense personal and professional satisfaction.
